Day three: the downhill stretch

Day 3 of 5 treatments in a row is done and in the books. On the downhill stretch… at least for this week.

Right now my only side effect is feeling tired. Not necessarily exhausted, but just tired. However, at least for the moment I don’t feel sick, I don’t feel nauseous, food still tastes good, etc.

I know all of that will most likely change in the next week or two, but I’m trying to enjoy each good moment for what it is.

On Tuesday, I came into treatment with a creative idea. I had discovered on Monday that the pump that all the fluids and medicines run through makes this rhythmic sound. Because I’m a nerd, I pulled out the piano app on my phone and figured out the main sound was the note B. But every now and then it would switch and make the note G#. So the chord progression goes like this:

B | B | G#m | B … or… 1 | 1 | 6m | 1

So I sampled the sound on my phone, and I came into Tuesday’s treatment with the idea of creating a song around the sound of the medicine pump, getting some video shots and making something I could post on Facebook. I felt like the creative challenge was a good goal for the day.

So that video can be found here on my Facebook page.

It was fun to see all the reactions and comments about the video. But there was a common theme within all the comments, and it was this: making the most of your situation.

People seemed to be inspired that I would take a trial in my life—going through chemo—and turn it into a song!

I’m not sure that was my intent, but it blesses me to see that’s the message people are hearing.
