A lot has happened in this first week

It’s Sunday evening, and I’m just now thinking through all that’s happened over the last few days.

I finished my fifth day of chemo treatments on Friday. I had a bit more motivation on Friday than I had the previous days. I even shot some video footage that I hope to turn into a short vlog video in the near future.

Saturday marked a few things. One, it’s the first day I didn’t have to go to treatment. I got to sleep in and rest.

But it also was my birthday. Misty and some friends had organized a parade in my honor that came by the house in the evening. I sat there on the front lawn as car after car came by to wave and celebrate with me. My daughter’s drill team even joined in the fun, riding their horses by the house! It was remarkable.

Now, it’s Sunday, and I had already planned to stay home from church. And it’s a good thing, because this is by far the most exhausted I’ve felt during this entire experience. I guess that’s what happens when the steroids start wearing off but you also had the excitement of a birthday.

Even just getting up to get something to eat or to use the bathroom just wipes me out within minutes. I was hoping I could get out a bit this week, but I’m not optimistic about that at the moment.
