Andrew Stone on leading tech people and the importance of clearly defining the expectations (COTM Prod Ethos)
As the production director and chief audio engineer at Church on the Move in Tulsa, OK, Andrew Stone is one of the best pastors to tech people I’ve ever seen. During the 15 years he’s been with COTM and all the years on the road with national touring artists, he has pulled together a list of ten statements—a production ethos if-you-will. In our conversation, we don’t necessarily talk about what these statements mean. Instead, it’s a conversation about how they came to be and why it’s important to his ministry now to clearly articulate the expectations.
Plus, there’s a plethora of 80s references. Who would expect anything else?

MxU is a one-day FOH mixing event for the engineer, the musician, and the creative. Andrew, along with Jeff Sandstrom (Chris Tomlin FOH) and Lee Fields (Lincoln Brewster FOH) sit in a room with their respected audio desks, mix their own tracks and share years and decades of wisdom and advice. They also have a regular podcast. To find out when MxU is coming to a city near you or where to find the podcast, check out MxU.rocks.
The product of the month is the Elite Core headphone extension pack. For band members that are using wired in-ear monitors, this little box clips on your clothing to make it easy to connect and disconnect from your mixer. It also helps alleviate the problem of your IEM headphones pulling on the back of your head with the weight of the cable, because it gives a place for this connection to hang on your clothes.
Here’s the YouTube video mentioned at the end of this podcast episode called "5 tips to create the best worship team in ear monitor IEM mix.”
