The first week of the third and final round
I officially have two rounds behind me, and I’m starting the third and final scheduled round this week. After this round, I have a week off and then we do a CT scan to determine the final verdict. My oncologist and I are expecting to see the mass completely gone on the scans. There’s a chance that some of it remains as scar tissue. Anything smaller than 3cm he doesn’t seem concerned with. Anything bigger than that, it just becomes something to watch.
Overall what I’ve discovered each round is that the first 10 days are so are rough, because I’m in the treatment center 6 out of the 10 days and the fatigue can be pretty intense—especially after the first week and the steroids start to wear off. But the last 10 days or so of the round I start feeling myself again and can even do normal things like being at the office, driving and doing small things around the house.
I haven’t posted a while here on the website, because I’ve been actually been focusing my energy on creating weekly vlog videos about my journey. Since everything else about Practical Worship is put on hold at the moment (no YouTube videos and no podcast episodes), I still had this itch to create something. I’ve been posting them on my personal Facebook page and on my Instagram account.
If you haven’t seen them, you can check out the YouTube playlist below. Each of the videos are set as unlisted, which means they don’t show up in search and subscribers aren’t alerted when I add a new one. Most people that subscribe to the YouTube channel did so to see tips and tricks about leading a worship ministry, and I didn’t want to spam everyone with these vlog videos about my cancer journey. But if you’re reading this now, I figured you’d want to know.
